FaerieCon 2007!

  • P10001481
FaerieCon was a convention held in Philadelphia in the Fall of 2007. Several artsits whose items we carry came to visit, and we set up our own booth at the event! Everyone was dressed like a fairy!

Green Party

  • We recently had a Green Party celebrating the introduction of new "green" merchandise. We have jewelry made from recycled materials and garden decor made from old hardware...it's all very cool stuff! These are just some pictures of our new merchandise and new lights!

Birthday and Graduation Celebrations

  • The happy couple.
Charlene had a birthday and Ashley graduated from Temple University. We all went out to celebrate at Kildare's in Philadelphia. We had lots of fun!

Summer Solstice Party

  • Amanda
Mineralisitc had a Summer Solstice Party on June 20th to get everyone in the mood for summer. There were tasty treats and free tarot card readings for everyone who came. We also gave away a free chakra bag with your purchase of $45 or more. Here are the photos from that fun filled event.

Week Ending 8.24

The bridge has been up for a little over a week and within 24 hours we had it painted and astro-turfed. Right now there is a cement truck down the street so hopefully we will have a brand new sidewalk in a few days.

This week we also got in some new jewelry which is a little different than what we normally carry with gold fill and silver wrapped around stones

Bridge Sale!

Hello all! We have a bridge! It was put up yesterday, so that means you have until the 19th to get your fairy and dragon fix! You can take 10% off of all non-limited edition fairies and dragons at our South Street location. We have Amy Brown Divas, Stranglings, Nene Thomas figurines, Jessica Galbreth astrological fairies, dragon cone incense burners, dragon figurines and more. Also look for our slime-inspired sale signs...

Dig!

The digging has begun! Construction has commenced on our side of the 300 block. This means that very soon we will be having our bridge sale. Keep a lookout, you only have one week beginning the day the bridge goes up to take 10% off of our fairy and dragon merchandise. To prepare we have just gotten new dragons and some new strangling fairies!

Fairy Gift Baket

New to our website are our very own gift baskets, put together by Bryn. She has chosen different themes to "take the guesswork out of gift-giving" such as fairies, gargoyles, and dragons. Not to mention holiday themed baskets beginning with Halloween (as if you needed to ask). Each basket will be filled with hand-picked merchandise, wrapped and sent to you to be given as the perfect gift. You can even call in and request to pick it up at the store to avoid the wait for shipping.

In addition to fairies and dragons we have also received the missing Seven Deadly Sins Gargoyles, new chess sets and String Dolls. Samurai, nautical, mythical and historical themed chess sets have finally arrived, giving us a selection of chess sets that I haven't seen before. Plus we have some new string dolls including Twinkle, who sprinkles enchantment through your life, Gus the Plumber, who helps you do things you cant do yourself, and Astro-Neil, who encourages you to take the first step however big or small.

And last, but not least, more exciting news....FarieCon is coming October 10th-12th! While we won't be having a booth this year we will still be attending, in costume, to remind fairy-lovers that fantasy is closer then they think. Don't forget that following the convention are two balls, the Good Faerie and Bad Faerie Balls, held at the Troc.

I'm not even mentioning our plans for Halloween, I think that you've had your fill. Any more might cause your brain to explode.

New Blogger

There is now another Mineralistic blogger - Ashley. Bryn, as the fairest manager of all, has given the job to me. I'll be here to update you all on the weekly going-ons at the store from new merchandise to sales to Woodrow. As you Philadelphians may know South Street is currently undergoing a renovation. The gum trees are gone, sidewalks are gone and  soon it will be our turn to have the sidewalk dug up to make way for newer, more even pavement. To get into the stores during this time a wooden bridge from the street to the door will be made. This should happen within the next two weeks so keep an eye out because when it does we will be having a sale! For one week beginning from the day the bridge goes up we will be having 10% off all fairy and dragon merchandise (with the exception of limited edition pieces).
Monkey-pirate-and-some-dragons

As for new merchandise we now have new amber necklaces and a new selection of earrings. We also have some awesome new black tourmaline points! If there is something that you are looking for we are taking suggestions, so drop us an email!

For the second year running we have been nominated as one of the best gift shops in Philadelphia by MyFoxPhilly HotList! Make sure to vote for us so we can win...like last year muhahaha.

Passing the holiday-less summer with graduations (mine) and birthdays (mine, chars and janices) has been great but coming up is an event that I am very excited about...Bryn's art show!!! On August 1st at Deep Sleep (on 3rd street between market and arch) she will be show casing FLOCK PARTY! For those of you who don't know, Bryn is our resident artist. For years she has been the creator of our b-e-a-utiful seasonal windows like Christmas on Mars, Alice in Wonderland, Desert Island Shipwreck, Masquerade Ball, A Misfits Christmas, and so on. She has begun her own line of felting everything from earrings to animals to cat toy and here she will be showing her line of hand-crafted birds.

Flyer floc

Thats all for this first, kind of long, blog. I'll be updating every Tuesday so keep a look out for information on sales, new merchandise and fun events!

Thanks to Everyone Who came out for Summer Solstice!!

It was a great success...and lots of fun!! Our own Madam Amanda read over 35 guests tarot cords in about 3 1/2 hours.  It was truly something to see.  Check out our photo albums for pictures of the event.  Just in time for summer solstice we got in a bunch of new athames.  And right after the event we got in sage bundles and abalone shells to burn the sage in.  We also got sage smudging feathers in!  We recently received a bunch of new jewelry, 11 pairs of new earrings made it to our website, so stop by and check those out.

On a slightly sadder note, Mineralistic is loosing it's web master.  Our very own Julia is moving on to greener pastures in Michigan.  We are all sad to see her go.  Especially me, Bryn.  I am trying to take over her duties as best as i can, so please bare with me as I struggle to learn how to do the things that she has done so effortlessly.

Julia you will be missed but we are sure that you are up for this new adventure in your life!

Good Luck

Julia good bye

Gigantic Update!

It's been a few weeks since we've updated since SO much has happened! As promised earlier, here are a few photos from our webmaster's trip to Ireland that might appeal to our customers!

TGS- 2

This is a picture of "The Great Stalagtite." It is the largest known stalagtite in the Northern Hemisphere and measures about 23.5 feet long. It is located in Doolin Cave in Doolin, Ireland; a small town on the northwest coast of Ireland. Since all of us at Mineralistic as well as many of our patrons are big rock fans, it seemed fitting to give you a glimpse of a real stalagtite inside a cave!

TGS-1

This picture was taken underneath the stalagtite. Portions of it are "dead", but the dripping water from the bottom means that some parts are still alive and growing!

DC -1

This is a picture of Drombeg Circle, an ancient Druid circle used for celebrations and ceremonies. It is located in a small town called Drombeg in the southwestern portion of Ireland. The hazy fog gives this picture an eerie effect! Hopefully our pagan patrons will appreciate this historic Druid location!

DC - 2

This picture is a bit clearer, but perhaps not as haunting. :)

Hopefully you all enjoyed that tiny little showcase of Ireland! Now back to business!

Over the last two weeks or so we have been receiving lots of shipments filled with TONS of new products. In the last week we have displayed brand new gargoyles, fairies, vikings, and skeleton-themed items. We are in the process of making these items available online...it will take a few weeks but be sure to check back to the website for new products!

For those of you who are bigger fans of our jewelry section, a bunch of new Amber pieces have been added to the display, as well as brand new silver Celtic earrings and bracelets! There has also been an update to the jewelry items available online. Check out the jewelry section yourself and see what we've added!

A big thank you to all those who came out to Mayfair in Collingswood! It was a busy day for the entire street and we appreciate your continued support!

In lieu of upcoming events, Father's Day is June 15th. Is Dad a history buff? Why not get him his favorite historical figure in Pot Belly form? Does Dad play chess? We have a wide selection of interesting and humorous Chess Sets  that any chess player will appreciate. Don't forget about Dad!

We also have a very exciting even coming up in June...a Summer Solstice Party! More information is on its way, but be sure to keep an eye out for information and advertisements in the Philadelphia Metro. It's going to be a lot of fun!

Exciting things to come!

You may have noticed that there hasn't been a blog update in awhile. That's mainly due to the fact that our co-webmaster was traveling Ireland! Pictures of Druid circles and huge stalactites will be coming shortly!

The next coming weeks are going to be very exciting for Mineralistic. We are expecting new merchandise, we are planning a very exciting event, and we have a new employee! Sarah has joined our team, and being a Geology major in college makes her a perfect fit for our store!

In other news, Mineralistic has been named one of the Top 100 Retailers for Munro, making us one of the best spots to obtain your Faerie Glen and Dragonsite collectibles! It is through your purchases that we have received this status, so a special thank you to all those fairy collectors out there!

Be sure to check back on the blog to see what kind of interesting details we will be posting about the next few weeks!

Weekend Update

String Dolls, Plaques, and Skateboard Jewelry! Within the last few days we have received new shipments of The String Doll Gang; a favorite item in the store. Pop in and see if we have your beloved String Doll back in stock...or to see who we have added to our collection!

Our Plaques with humorous or sentimental sayings (Eat, Drink & Remarry, You Give My Heart Wings, I'm Still Hot. It Just Comes in Flashes to name a few...) are always cause for a customer to laugh out loud. We received a new shipment of these over the weekend, just in case you need a little something for Mother's Day or a birthday!

As part of our "Going Green" crusade, we are now featuring the recycled jewelry of local artist Claire McDermott. She uses Sterling Silver and old Skateboards to make simple yet totally unique jewelry.  Below is just an example of one of the styles of hers we carry! Be sure to come in the store and take a look at it...it is VERY cool stuff.

Our Green Party was yesterday and Jen Roder was here to discuss her RotorCap jewelry. We all enjoyed hummus and green tea and are already planning our next event! Thanks to anyone who stopped by and enjoyed the party!
